HISTORY ASPECTS:
The Dewoitine D.520, under the command of 18-victory ace Pierre Le Gloan in the service of GC III/6 of the Vichy French Air Force, played a significant role during the conflict in Syria in 1941. At that time, Syria was under a French mandate, and Vichy French forces controlled the region. Facing increased pressure from the Allied forces, especially the Free French and British, the D.520 became a key asset in Vichy France's efforts to maintain control in the Middle East.
Pierre Le Gloan, an accomplished pilot with a tally of 18 victories, demonstrated exceptional skill and bravery in his D.520 during the Syrian campaign. The aircraft, known for its agility and solid performance, engaged in dogfights against the advancing Allied forces. Despite the political complexities of the time, Le Gloan's feats in the D.520 were a testament to the capabilities of this French fighter.
