  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The H-1L, widely known as the "Huey," is an iconic helicopter with a rich history of service in the United States Navy. Its roots trace back to the Vietnam War, where it played an invaluable role in naval operations.
  • The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (nicknamed "Huey") is a utility military helicopter powered by a single turbo shaft engine which became famous for its use during the Vietnam War. It is the most widely used military helicopter in the world. More than 16,000 have been built since 1960, used for MedEvac, troop and cargo transport and air assault.
  • The US Navy's Helicopter Training Squadron Eighteen (HT-18) was established in 1972 and is based in Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Florida. It offers advanced helicopter pilot training of student aviators for the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard and selected foreign military flight students. HT-18 used TH-1L Iroquois (modified UH-1) from 1972 until it was replaced by TH-57C Sea Ranger in the early 1980's.
  • The U.S. Navy employed the H-1L for various purposes during the Vietnam conflict, such as troop transport, search and rescue missions, and providing essential logistical support to naval vessels operating along the coastlines. These versatile helicopters became a familiar sight on aircraft carriers and other naval vessels, ensuring the mobility and readiness of naval forces in the region.
  • Meticulously designed and crafted, this 1:87 scale model captures the spirit of the H-1L's service in the U.S. Navy, making it a must-have for collectors and history enthusiasts. It's a tribute to the brave men and women who operated these helicopters during one of the most challenging conflicts of the 20th century.
